INNOVATIVE PV 2 DC Grid SOLUTIONS IN THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT GRID

The PV modules convert the solar radiation and generate DC voltage and current. This is suitable advantage for realization of projects in the public transportation system where the generated from the PV system energy is feed direct into  the DC grid of the public transport. The PV system provides  part of the necessary electricity for the operation of the electric tram, trolley or metro, the remaining is obtained from the conventional electrical grid.

  • In comparison with the widespread applications of PV systems, when sending PV electricity into the DC public transport networks the process does not require expensive and maintenance demanding equipment like (inverters, transformers).

  • The energy produced from the PV systems replaces (saves) a part of the consumption of electricity from the conventional grid. This is an additional positive effect because the losses for transformation and conversion of the energy are saved coming from the substations.

  • When there are changes in the production of the PV systems due to changing weather conditions the DC network is not experiencing any interference because at all time the PV energy supply only replaces the corresponding part of conventional energy, and the difference is always complemented by existing conventional power equipment.
